Dr. Carol Callaway-Lane is received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 2011 while she was a fellow within the VA Quality Scholars Program, of which she is the first doctoral prepared nurse to graduate from the Nashville site of this 2-year quality improvement fellowship. In 2011 Dr. Callaway-Lane joined Vanderbilt University School of Nursing as an assistance professor teaching in the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety course for the DNP students until 2018. Within her role at Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), she is: • Director of the National Geriatric Scholars Program Quality Improvement Workshop and Practicum; teaching the concepts of QI to clinical providers across the country and coaching them through improvement projects within their own clinic setting. • Associate program director of the Nashville VA Quality Scholars Program linking the current fellows to the local VA facility with regards to improvement projects and patient safety reviews. • Clinically, she continues to see patients in general pulmonary clinic and in Lung Nodule Clinic for Veterans presenting with signs of lung cancer. She is the co-director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program at TVHS • Carol has been at the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System since 1996.
