I am a hospitalist and healthcare improvement scholar. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and an Investigator at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety (IQuESt) at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. I am a former Chief Resident in Quality and Safety at the Houston VA and completed a 2-year Health Services Research Fellowship at IQuESt prior to starting my current faculty position. My research seeks to improve the quality and safety of hospital care for older adults and their families. In addition to my work with the VA Quality Scholars Program, I am also a den leader for the national Chief Resident in Quality and Safety Program and I train and coach faculty in healthcare improvement at Baylor College of Medicine as part of the Institute for Continuing Professional Development in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety.
