Big data tools and applications are becoming increasingly popular in the healthcare setting; however, we know very little about how to best implement these new tools within the cognitive and physical workflows of nurses. My research interests surround the design, development, and evaluation of probability-based clinical decision support tools, and this video describes one of my first studies to explore this phenomenon. We used weather scenarios as a proxy for exploring how nurses currently interact with probability-based information. We hope this qualitative study sheds light on important considerations for successful integration of these tools into the clinical environment.
