Our program site is fortunate to have a diverse team of experts in QI, healthcare administration, academic medicine, implementation science, system redesign, health outcomes, population health, and data analytics.  The continued support of our health system, VISN 7 and academic affiliates (Emory University School of Medicine (Emory SOM), Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing (NHWSN) and Emory Healthcare);  mentoring by a diverse group of interprofessional leaders; and training through the national and local curriculum supports the success of the program in developing practice change leaders who demonstrate competence in impactful clinical improvement work.

The Atlanta VAQS site delivers a robust local curriculum in quality and safety, including a combination of Local Prep (preparation for national VAQS curriculum), Writing Group, Works-in-Progress and a local Mini-Series sessions on a wide variety of topics such as measurement, statistical process control charts, program theory and evaluation, program implementation, project management, big data, leadership, healthcare finance, and burnout.

The Atlanta VAQS Program’s interprofessional Core Faculty are sought after for their expertise in implementation science, system redesign, interprofessional education, and curriculum design, particularly in the areas of quality improvement, health systems, public health, care coordination, patient safety and leadership. The Core Faculty is fully integrated in both the facility and with affiliates allowing them to network with local leadership, identify opportunities for projects and align fellows with strategic priorities.

Fellows come to our Atlanta VAQS site to gain expertise in quality improvement, implementation science and educational program design and evaluationThe Atlanta site recruits fellows from nursing (DNP/PhD) and medicine (surgery, internal medicine, primary care, and other subspecialties).
